hello Ashish, as you are a 1st year student you totally have a lot of time to prepare for. Use this time for a good and peroidic preparation with practice, as practice makes one perfect. I woud suggest you to get the complete knowledge of gate syllabus. Firstly prepare yourself for discrete and engineering mathematics. Then also prepare yourself for aptitude with daily practice as a good aptitute will also help you in placements. All the best.
