Hi Experts, My son studied in Andhra from LKG to 4th standard. From 5th to 10th standard studied in Karnataka CBSE Board. Now, If he joins in Andhra for 11th n 12th class, will he be considered as a local candidate for EMCET in Andhra and Telangana.
Your son won't be considered a local candidate even if he does 11-12 from Andhra Pradesh now.
As per the guidelines, a candidate is considered to be local if he studied in the state for 4 years consecutively ending with the academic year in which he/she appeared or first appeared in the relevant qualifying examination as the case may be. So, this means that if the eligibility criteria states that candidate should have completed 10+2 or equivalent qualification from a Board of Intermediate Education Telangana/ Andhra Pradesh then the last qualifying year is 12th standard. And your son must have studied in Andhra Pradesh for 4 years including 12th standard consecutively.
Other criteria is that the candidate must have resided in the state for 4 years minimum, then he will be considered local candidate.
Candidates who do not satisfy above criteria are termed as non local candidate.
Candidates belonging to OCI/ PIO category will be treated as non-local candidates
Your son will be eligible to appear for examination if he does his 11th and 12th from Andhra Pradesh, but won't be considered to be a local candidate.
