Hi, I am someone who just passed their compartment exam for chemistry (12th cbse) in the same year(2026) i gave my boards. So originally my plan was to do B.TECH but around boards or if I am being more honest, like over a year ago i realised I didn't wanna do B.TECH because it was just not for me. I could not convey it to anyone near me, because even the thought of switching to anything else felt so scary to ask in my household. And by the time I actually came up to speak about it? My boards were just days away. I fell into depression for months, I recovered somewhat just recently? I got compartment in chem, I passed that and after? I wanted to switch because by now I was 100% sure of not doing B.TECH despite giving every other exam out there for this course, I know I wasted my parents money :(....Then I showed slight interest in BBA but MU guidelines tell that I won't get admission in any college under it because of my compartment result for BBA/BMS. I thought of taking a gap since more colleges might be open by next cycle right? But there are so many colleges that do not take compartment pass students for BBA/BMS. And for some reason I am not ready to settle for B.COM, though I am in no place to be choosy. The restrictions are so much that now I am in doubt that what will I do in this gap? Will I end up the same as this year?? Cuz what if I do not get a college next year either?? I do not know why I am unable to even consult my father for this. Maybe because he wasn't around as much as now for me to be frank...he even cried for me to communicate to him but I could not get a word out of my mouth because of the fear of his reaction....but I can not blame him for my failures anyways. So now I just want help in finding my path in this gap year, even if any of you suggest something other than BBA I am open to opinions and advices...but please help I want to do something in life :(

A compartment pass does not automatically make you ineligible for every BBA/BMS programme. However, individual universities and colleges can impose their own eligibility conditions, and some may specifically restrict admission for candidates who cleared a compartment examination.

Taking a gap year can still be productive. You can use it to improve your academic profile, explore BBA/BMS alternatives, build skills such as Excel, communication, digital marketing or finance, complete internships/certifications and research colleges carefully for the next admission cycle. You are not limited to B.Com; courses such as BBA, BBM, BMS, economics, management-related degrees and some specialised undergraduate programmes may also be worth exploring, depending on your eligibility.

Most importantly, don't treat one compartment result as a definition of your future. Your next step should be based on your interests, eligibility and the opportunities actually available to you
