Hi my rank is 55,000. Are there any chances of getting clinical branch through karnataka open counselling?
HELLO AASHI,
CONGRATULATONS for clearing the exam and secondly want to inform you that if we considered to last year cut off procedure then it might difficult for the general category but if you belong to OBC,SC,OR ST category then chances might increase.
It’s a matter of simple math; there are 2400 seats in government medical colleges in Karnataka. Of which 15 %will go to the all India quota, now there are 2040 left.
Out of these 1020 will come to general merit, thus even with candidates dropping out of counselling to pursue engineering and toppers opting for all India quota. At most it could stretch to 1500 ranks more or less.
Rest will go for reservation quotas like SC, ST, OBC (1A, 1B, 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B) sports quota, physical handicapped quota and then there is additional conundrum of the rural/urban quota, where government wants to wash its hands off poor educational facilities in rural setup by giving a quota.
Above situation makes predicting cut-offs for each of these categories difficult. I suggest that you refer to last year’s cut-off. If there has been addition of seats then cut-offs will come to even lower ranks than last year.
There is also the issue of seats given to state government by the private medical colleges; they could skew the scales further. However, government medical college seats will be the first to go.
HOPE IT HELPS
ALL THE BEST
