Hi there! I am in class 12th , my query is that if I don't register for MAINS this year, would that mean I can register for it in the two following years and also secure my two attempts for JEE Advcaned.

Hi,
JEE Advance offers only two attempts. The year in which you register for 12th for first time and the following year. It doesn't matter whether you have registered for JEE Mains in that year or not, your attempt will still be counted. So suppose if you are 12th and will give 12th exam for first time in 2021, then you can apply for JEE advanced in 2021 & 2022.
Thanks!!!

Hi Harsh.
According to the official JEE MAINS information bulletin --
"
Candidates must note that the IITs permit only two attempts for the JEE (Advanced), i.e. a candidate should have appeared for the Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in either 2020 or 2021, subject to the condition of not having been admitted at an IIT on an earlier occasion. Details may be obtained from the Information Brochure of the JEE (Advanced) 2021. Please see link: https://home.iitd.ac.in/news-jab.php https://jeeadv.ac.in/.
"
It means that if you do not register for JEE Mains this year, you WILL LOOSE one chance for JEE Advanced because according to new rules, you can attempt JEE Advance only if you have passed Class 12 or equivalent examinations the present year or year just before. So if you gave your class 12 examinations in 2022 then you can attempt JEE Advance of 2022 and 2023 ONLY. You can read the JEE Advance information bulletin for further query.
Good Luck
