Marine engineering includes the engineering of boats, ships, oil rigs and any other marine structure or vessel. Apart from this it also includes ocean engineering. a BE in Marine Engineering or Nautical Science and PG Diploma in Mechanical Engineering are the basic qualifications required to become a Marine Engineer. The minimum educational qualifications required for pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering is your plus two marks. For qualifying you need to have a good percentage in subjects like Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. This is a 4-year professional course. Physique is a criterion for qualification. Physical fitness is mandatory and there will be certain medical tests that are to be taken before entry into any college. The minimum height required is 150cms with a proportionate weight and proportionate chest with a minimum of 5-cm expansion. But Selection to T S Chanakya and MERI is through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) which is conducted annually by IIT.
