How does one decide between working hard for a government job or getting into an MBA?

The first thing I would say that when you are looking a higher education after Graduation, Make sure you are very clear about why do you want to do higher education programme. because if you just pickup any MBA programme & go after that for MBA, It may or may not be the value addition in term of learning. So just your all the friends are doing MBA, You don't have to rush for that.

Picking up job Government or non Government job, It doesn't matter today because most of the Government departments, They are run by young leaders. So I would not differentiate too much between Government job or non Government job but it might be very good starting point to pick up a job to compare What you think you deserve & What you think hearing your friends.

I am not prescribing against MBA after graduation, It might be right choice for someone but for someone else is pick up a job, get the couple of experiences then look for MBA.

For MBA famous exams are CAT, XAT, MAT etc. If you have interest in MBA I guess you should prepare for exams like CAT these exams. Goverment job preparation also has almost same syllabus but the competition is higher as the number of candidates are higher in government jobs.
