Hello aspirant !!
Hope you are doing well.
Undoubtedly, JEE Advanced is one of the toughest examinations of the world. Apart from this, the cut-throat competition makes it even more difficult to crack it with a good rank.
First of all, you need to understand that there is no fixed pattern for this exam and you need to be prepared for surprises . You need to tackle all types of questions : single correct, multiple correct, paragraph type, numerical and integer type, matrix-matching, or, as a matter of fact, the innovative category of questions that Advanced introduces every year ! Also, the marking scheme would be a surprise in most cases.
JEE Advanced not only tests your concepts, but also your ability to handle pressure and make immediate decisions, as well as your patience.
That being said, you need to keep in mind that you will be preparing for an exam which is highly uncertain, so be prepared for a journey full of surprises and several ups and downs.
To begin with, first go through the syllabus properly. The paper is well within the syllabus, so stick to it. Make your concepts crystal-clear. Practice quality questions. You should be able to apply multiple concepts simultaneously.
For Physics :
Properly read the NCERT once, it helps you develop the aptitude for paragraph type questions and also brushes the concepts. Then you can solve its Additional Exercises along with your coaching material or any standard book. Ensure that you understand the each and every concept involved.
For Chemistry :
Read the NCERT as many times as you can, especially for Inorganic. Even for Organic and Physical, you should read it at least twice. Stick to the syllabus . Once you are done with the in-text questions as well as back exercises of NCERT, you may go for your coaching material or any other book.
For Mathematics :
Theory wise, there is not much to do here. You need to be well-acquainted with the formulae and their uses. You do not generally get a direct question in the exam, so keep preparing through multi-conceptual problems. Explore different approaches for a single question; this is what helps you improve your speed and accuracy.
The most decisive factor in your preparation would be how you analyse your mistakes . Keep attempting chapter-wise tests throughout your preparation and start with full-syllabus tests once done with the syllabus. Pay utmost attention to unattempted and incorrect questions, and also see if there can be a better approach to your solutions. Make sure you don't repeat the mistakes.
Revision is the key to better scores , so keep revising at regular intervals.
At the end, do not neglect your physical, mental and emotional health and do not panic.
Have faith and just give your best.
Please note, I have not mentioned any particular book as that depends on your own comfort and pace of learning. You can always find the best one for you, and there is no hard and fast rule for it. However, practice all types of questions.
All the best !!
Hello Kusum,
If you want to get a good rank in JEE Advanced, you must first accept that there is no shortcut. Be prepared to work hard and smart.
- Make sure that you clear the basic concepts. NCERT books are great for the purpose.
- Once you are done with the fundamentals, move on to more advanced books. Remember, questions in JEE Advanved are more concept-based that are designed to test your depth of understanding of the subject. Also, it is less about how fast you are in solving a problem.
- When you read a concept, try problems reated to it, and also problems that tackles interrelated concepts. This will make you critically think about different ideas and make you solve problems creatively.
- Solve sample and previous years' questions papers
- Also, mock test is recommended given the test will be conducted in online mode for the first time.
Regards.
