How is the pg admission..on what base

Dear Aspirant,
You did not mention your stream.
In every education branch,there are variety types systems to get admission in post graduation course of reputed Universities.
For getting Master of technology in a reputed University you have to appear in a exam named,"Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineers". After that, You can get admission in NITs or other colleges.
But in case of IITs they conduct their own entrance examination and interview round.
For getting Master of Science in IITs or NITs, you have to appear in an examination called, "Joint Admission Test for masters in IITs".
For getting Master of science in Calcutta University, Presidency University etc they have to appear in their own entrance exam respectively.
For getting Master of business administration degree, you have to appear in an examination called "Common Admission Test".

Direct/Merit- 50% of PG seats in DU will be filled by direct admission or on the basis of merit of the candidates. This mode of admission is only applicable for the students of DU.
Entrance Exam- Remaining 50% seats will be filled through entrance exam and interview (if any).
