There are 235 Government Medical Colleges in India having nearly 32,000 MBBS seats.
In addition, there are 9 AIIMS which have 800 MBBS seats for Indian citizens.
As far as TamilNadu is considered, there are 23 Govt medical colleges in Tamilnadu with a total strength of 2900 seats . Of that 455 seats are reserved for Indian quota. Then there are 10 private medical colleges approximately.
