JEE Mains is a National level Common Entrance test to get admission in NIT's and IIIT's. According to NTA a student can attempt JEE exam twice in a particular academic session. However as per the eligibility criteria and age for appearing in JEE Mains a candidate can appear in JEE exam for 3 consecutive years.

A candidate can give jee mains 3 times and jee advance 2 times.
- First attempt when the candidate appeared for class 12 exam. He can give both mains and advanced.
- Second attempt next year of giving 12th can give both jee main and advanced.
- Thirs attempt after 2 years of giving jee mains can give only mains.
