Hey Vaibhav!
While it is difficult to provide an exact number for the number of seats that will be available for admissions under 50% All India Quota for MD, MS and Diploma courses through NEET PG 2018, we can reach an estimate number by looking at the data for the past two years. For 2016, 5603 seats were available through the first round of AIQ 50% Counselling while in 2017, 5598 seats were available. So for 2018, the number should also be around 5600 seats.
A total of 1,28,917 candidates appeared for NEET PG 2018 so achieving an All India 50% Quota Category SC Rank of 439 is a pretty good achievement! If you could also share your overall NEET PG rank, it would be easier to determine what colleges and courses you stand a chance of securing admissions to.
However, if we take a look at the seat allotment results from the past two years, SC candidates who have obtained category ranks in the 400-500 range have been able to pursue all the major specializations across MD, MS and Diploma courses in prominent Government Medical Colleges across the country.
In 2017, SC candidates in the 400-500 rank range were able to obtain seats across all the major MD, MS and Diploma Courses in reputed Government Medical Colleges across India. For example, last year’s SC category rank 426 was allotted MD Radiotherapy in GMC Kozhikode, rank 432 was allotted Diploma in Anaesthesiology at Hindu Rao Hospital Delhi, rank 448 was allotted MS General Surgery at Government Medical College Amritsar and so on. While we know that these seats and colleges may change this year, you can use them as indicators to estimate your chances. Going by these ranks, there is certainly a strong chance for you to land a seat in a good Government medical college.
All the best!
