Hii!
See, intially, in general terms, after you clear NEET UG entrance exam, you go for mbbs course, which has the duration of 5.5 years, that is, 4.5 years of studies and 1 year of compulsory internship. Then, you get a tag of Dr. in front of your name.
After that, you can go for MD/ MS course and specialize in a subject of your choice. So, basically it's 5.5 years of mandatory studies and then it depends on your further interests.
Hope this helps.
Good luck!

After qualifying Neet, candidates get admitted to the medical colleges based on their merit in the examination. MBBS course duration is 5.5 years or 5 years 6 months which includes one year of compulsory rotating internship. That means 4.5 years is the academic course duration which includes total nine semesters and 1 year of rotating internship which is mandatory for all MBBS students to get the license of practice after completing MBBS. In the one year rotatory internship there will be switching in various posts. As a part of the internship, there will be 3 months rural posting and an elective course of 2 months duration.
