I think you need to get a rank at least around 3000–4000 for General Category. Last year my friends rank was 6672 with a score of 236 and he was not placed anywhere. So to get a higher rank your score should be more than 250. This year my friend got 254 and his rank was 12020.

For taking admissions in good colleges or NIT than
If you are an general candidate a score around 200–230 will take you in a safe zone and you will get a NIT for sure
If you are an Obc candidate then a score around 180 would be enough
If you are a ST/SC candidate then 160 will be enough.
