Naveen, for starters you need to decide if you want to get into an IIT because of comparisions or you are interested in getting into an IIT because you want to learn something different and emerge with a different perspective of life. You might be too young for these words but this is the right time to evaluate your wishes and the rationale behind your wishes. It is always greener on the other side of the mountain. 25% of the Candidates who join IIT are not happy with their choice. The reasons might be anything from pressure from the parental and friends circle or in reality IITs are no more the havens for learning with quality education being available everywhere. Now this answer is going tobe how to develop confidence in general and not in specific for admission to IITs. For admission to IITs, you need to score real good in JEE Advanced. This needs immense hard work and belief in yourself that you can do anything. There is a technique called "Imagery". You imagine yourself in a situation which demands you to be confident. Let's say you are appearing for an admission to a Sports Academy for a seat for learning cricket. Now they do not take everyone. You need talent to prove you are worth a seat there. So you have to bat really good, bowl good and field good. The night before, while laying on your bed or sitting upright, take few breaths and imagine that you are batting and hitting 4s and running faster as you can between the wickets. Imagine you being applauded and appreciated and selected. Mentally imagine you playing an offswing or a yorker successfully. This will help you be confident. And the next day on the field, because you practised it in your mind, you will be effective on the ground. This is a technique to build your self confidence. This has good results. But always remember that there is no substitute to practise and hardwork.
