You can practice to answer descriptive type question. If you can build good concept then you can give answers for both mcq and long question. Then you can take preparation for both gate and upsc in a same time.So prepare well for both the exams and do well in exams.Best of luck.

But the thing is that I am studying engineering but not so much interested to become engineer but very much interested to become official that's why upsc is my target
And if I take admission in some top private engineering college for doing m. Tech and after completion for m. Tech if I target for upsc then it will be any problem??
Hiii..
GATE exam takes place at the end of Jan or first week of Feb.
Take optional subject same as your Engineering degree (Mech, Civil or Electrical).
Prepare for General studies (mains) till Oct.
From Nov, devote yourself for the Engineering subject and study it with both perspective, GATE and UPSC optional. You can complete both syllabus in Three months (Nov, Dec, Jan).
Revise GS and get up to speed with current affairs in rest of Feb after attempting GATE.
Start preparing for UPSC Prelims in March. You get more than 5 months to prepare for prelims which is more than enough if you know your stuff.
Hope you get it...
