I am a 1st year btech student in a private college. I am 20 years old. I want to do bba llb. How to convince my parents?

Dear Phoebe, we will be pretty honest with you. Convincing parents who spent a whopping amount for a seat in a Private Engineering College for their daughter couple of months back to let her discontinue the course and pursue another course is not an easy task. Keeping this aside, we shall first bring forth the reality in shifting courses. Now because you want to discontinue B.Tech, you should collect all your Original documents from the current college and that is not going to be an easy task for 2 reasons. One, you will not have your parents support and two, the college would ask you to pay the fees for the entire 4 years to give you your certificates. Now you may argue it is against law or they are your certificates and you want to take the legal route, but most Students unknowingly sign a form stating that in case they leave halfway through the course, they will pay the entire course fees. So now, not only your parents have to shell out the course fees for 3 years upfront, they will also have to pay your college fees if you join BBA LLB. Now given the cost of Education in India, it is not as easy as you think you can manage to convince. There is a lot involved. This is not to discourage you by any means. At 20, you are not only the better judge of your life but also the best judge of your family's finances. Students usually start their Graduation at 17 years. The reason why it took you 3 years to join B.Tech is unclear. Let's say your parents agree to all this, you have to appear for entrance exam in 2020 and then you take admission for BBA LLB in 2020. So take time to think if this is not a decision that you want to take because you heard its good. Be sure if this is what you want to do because halfway through BBA LLB if you lose your interest, you will have no backing and you will have lost the plot. Before you want to convince your parents, we would suggest you to check if you are convinced with this course and why. Then you will know how to convince your parents. Because you know if that is where your heart is or it is just a phase.
