i am confused. GATE score cut off last year was 650something which means a rank of upto500. Do nitie only take in top 500 ranked in gate?

IIT and NIT take only very few students and they have limited seats for each department
You need be in top 500 to get admission

According to the this article, expected cut off is about to 720 to 760+ fir general,
550+ for OBC
500+ for SC
420+ for ST
