Yes, Sports Certificate is beneficial. How is it beneficial, to know it, you have to visit the website - jksportscouncil.com
The website says "Sports category weightage to the candidates who are desirous to seek admission in various professional courses 2018-19 (which includes MBBS) under Sports Quota"
Then there will be in red colours "Notification NEET". Tap on that. A .docx (word) file will get downloaded. Open the file and there you can see a big chart describing the details regarding how many points are awarded for different sports. Eg 3rd place in national level - 3.5 points, thrice participation in national level - 1 point. Go through that list to get an idea.
