i belong to obc catagory...but i wrongly applied as general. ... will it affect me in joining a iit college in the basis of marks

You have to send an email to your Zonal GATE Office to get the category changed from GN/ OBC to SC/ ST. Fees will not be refunded in such a case. To know more about Gate 2018 you can go through the below article -
