Hello there. Yes it's possible to get into aeronotical engineering after you have done your diploma. The only factor remaining is that the college in which you want to persue it. Since you are from diploma, firstly you need to check our for the college providing lateral entry and what are their criteria for admission. Since the first year in engineering mostly consist of applied science subjects so this won't provide any problem to you in getting in your desired choice

Aeronautical engineering comes under the school of Mechanical engineering. This course is a specialised engineering stream which focuses primarily on the design , research and development of spacecrafts and aircrafts. Now coming to your question. Please pay attention to the following points.

• Almost all universities which offers a full time 4 years Bachelors degree (BTech or BE ) in Aeronautical engineering requires a minimum eligibilty criteria of the candidate to have passed the 10+2 exams with a certain amount of minimum percentage. The minimum percentage varies from universities to universities. Then depending on the university , it might have a certain entrance exam , which the candidate must clear to be eligible for admission to their course based on the rank obtained by the candidate in that entrance exam.
• Now since you are a diploma holder candidate in ECE , you can only get admission to a Bachelors degree program in Aeronautical engineering only in those universities which allow lateral entry. Lateral entry means that the candidate will directly start from second year of the course and will not have to study the first year courses. Now for getting admission in Aeronautical engineer in the Bachelors program , the candidate may have to appear for a Lateral entry entrance examination which the university conducts or accepts. Now keep in mind that not all universities offering this specialised stream of Aeronautical engineering accept lateral entry into their programs. Lateral entry is not available in neither the IITs nor the NITs.
