I couldn't qualify in mains 2018. Is it mandatory for me to take january mains as 2nd attempt or I can take mains in April 2019 as usual?

Its not necessary for you to take january exam as your next attempt.You can give April exam and there is no problem in that whatsoever so don't take tension and prepare well.
