I got 1080 rank in preparatory SC rank.Can I get a seat in IIT if they are vacant without doing preparatory course?

Hello,
Your SC prep rank is provided because IIT board thinks you have shown potential in Advance and you can improve and be eligible for the IIT by next year. Thus, it should be noted that you are only eligible for the preparatory course and no regular courses are applicable for you. JoSAA might be giving you choices to fill but they will NOT be allotted to you as you are not part of the common rank list as such for the admission. On the contrary IITs release seats for preparatory courses if there are vacant seats in that category in regular course. Thus, you cannot take a regular course in IITs even if they remain vacant.
