The basic eligibility criterion for admission to the course is a 10+2 or similar qualification from any recognised educational Board with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as main subjects. Some institutes require a minimum aggregate score of 50% in classes X and XII as an additional criterion of eligibility.
The general admission procedure for most institutes offering this course consists of an entrance examination, and based on performance at all levels, i.e. X,XII, and the entrance exam, admission to the course is given to candidates based on the final cumulative merit. However, there are many institutes in the country that offer admission to the course based solely on the percentage scores in classes X and XII. There are also a few institutes that conduct an additional round of counselling after the stage of entrance examination, for final selection.
