The highest package is 14 lakhs in computer engineering and ECE streams. Juniors got to see how the interview happens. TCS is the company which took most of the students.

The quality of labs and classrooms is too good. The college Wi-Fi is too good for downloading all the stuff and help the students to get the data immediately.

The quality of food is just good enough. Some types of food are of good quality while some are moderate. Hostel rooms are too expensive but they provide the necessary facilities and food on time.

Faculty members are really helpful and they provide good quality of education. They help students to overcome the fear of exam and motivate them to do something great and extraordinary in their life. The teaching methods generally used are presentations and via modern-day technologies. The industry exposure and the course curriculum is very good as it helps us with many things.

❱ helpline 7 6 7 6 0 8 0 0 08 for admission in pes univeristy. PES University (formerly PES Institute of Technology) was not so long ago touted as the best college for pursuing IT and Electronics in Bangalore if not Karnataka and was considered on par with the likes of top tier NITs of India.

Top tier companies offering 10 lac+ packages was a common sight in the campus and a considerable number of students had Masters admits in top tier US universities including the likes of CMU, UCSD, USC etc. mostly from CS, IS and ECE branches. All was going good for PESIT until 2013 when I joined this college. It was in the line of becoming a dreaded university much like VIT and SRM which picked up really well with getting good student admits but ended up going down the drain eventually when increased their intake and what not (Yes, the VIT rankings that you see in the newspaper are obviously paid and fake, trust me, I had a under 1500 rank in VIT). We were all hoping for its request of becoming a deemed university to be declined by the Karnataka Government. RVCE and BMSCE (two other top tier colleges in Bangalore) who had also applied for deemed university status were declined this “privilege”, alas PES had become a university too soon.

The standards of a good engineering college are first and foremost set by the students who secure admission to the college. Initially, PESIT used to take admission from CET and Comedk attracting the best minds from Karnataka and good students from other parts of India as well. I have seen my classmates give up their CET ranks which would have secured them Computer Science in either BMS or MS Ramaiah, but chose to go ahead with Computer Science admit in PES through their Comedk ranks which would require them to shell out an additional 1 lac a year. Yes, such was the brand of PES. It was regularly ranked under top 40 if not top 30 in India and was on par with the top private universities in India atleast in CS.

But with this great power came great responsibility. The management thought that it has nurtured the PES brand relatively well with students working at good industrial and academic positions across the globe if not atleast in India and Bangalore. They had decided to take PES to the top much like BITS Pilani which is undoubtedly the best Private Engineering College in India. But unlike BITS, PES could not attract top tier students because of primarily two reasons. First of all there is no quota whatsover in BITS whereas the management stopped intake from Comedk and instead started conducting their own exam called PESSAT on similar lines of BITSAT (Maths + English + Chem + Physics, I guess there’s logical reasoning also - not sure). Second, its brand is not as reputed as BITS. No offence, but the condition of the college started deteriorating because it wasn’t attracting the best minds in the country anymore. When PES announced that it would stop intake from Comedk and CET and only admit students through PESSAT, the Karnataka Government stepped in and disallowed this move saying that there should be atleast 50% reservation for students through CET.
