With the rank you're mentioning it's really difficult to get into a government college. If you fall in reserved category you can definitely look out for some government colleges but you can always check out some private colleges with good placement records as these days private colleges are equally good in placements, only the fee differs. Moreover if your college provides good placements then there should be no problem in investing money. And it's always advisable not to take an year gap because these days many companies won't shortlist you during placements if you have an year gap like Honda, Vedanta and many others.

I hope you are doing well . With a SC rank of 66940 in JEE Main ,Joint Seat Allocation Authority JoSSA cannot provide you with a good government college having decent placements .I would suggest you to take a drop and prepare for the examination again .
