Hello Swetha,
You have secured 85.6% in JEE mains which means there are14.4 % candidates who have secured more marks than you. If you consider the total number of candidates who appeared for JEE Mains in January was around 9,29,000. And if you calculate you will see that there are around 1,33,000 candidates who have secured more marks than you. So basically your rank will lie in the range of 1,25,000 to 1,40,000.
Now to apply for JEE advanced you must be in the top 2,24,000 candidates including all categories. So for now we can say that you're in a safe zone where you will be eligible to apply for JEE advanced.
But as you know this year JEE Mains will be conducted twice and a candidate's best of the two marks will be considered for preparing the merit list your rank may go down as other candidates might be preparing hard to be among the top 2,24,000.
So if you fulfill all the other criteria for now I can say that you will be eligible for JEE advanced but work hard and try to improve your percentile in the upcoming JEE Mains examination as more candidates would be appearing in the April Jee mains, and try to get above 90% so that no one can stop you from writing JEE advanced.
In OBC category your rank must be within 50,000 to qualify for JEE advanced. Work hard, success is yours.
All the best.
Hello swetha
With this percentile score your approximately rank will be more than 1.4- 1.6 lakhs.( May vary a lot deoedepen upon April exam conditions) general.
And yes you may be eligible for jee advanced.( But can not say anything right now because it depends upon April exam also.).
But if you are getting 85.6 percentile score in jee mains than I think you need a lot of practice for the jee advanced because it is much harder than jee mains.I think you got; what I am saying.
You can apply for jee advanced but for the good college ( IIT) You have to be well prepared upto that mark.
So work hard and
Good luck
Your percentile is enough to qualify for jee main and can appear for jee advance,
If you want to study in IITs, you need to work hard for the advance....
Hope you get it
