Since HBTU Kanpur takes admission through JEE Mains, so one must clear the required cutoff as per his/her category inorder to get admission. Below I have provided 2019 JEE Main cutoff (percentile) category wise -
- CRL : 89.75
- GEN-EWS : 78.21
- OBC-NCL : 74.31
- SC : 54.01
- ST : 44.33
- PwD : 0.11
Well as per your SC rank of 8700 ,you might be able to get a seat in HBTU kanpur. However, whcih branch will you get that is hard to say. You should better participate in the counselling process and see which branches do you get.

You would require a minimum of 97-98 for general percentile to get admission in B.Tech programme in HBTU, Kanpur. The cutoff rank for CSE is around 21,000 which would be approx. 97.5 percentile.
