I have an eyesight of (-0.5), am i eligible for imu B.tech course
Hi Pratyay, following is the specification for vision for candidates seeking admission to the BTech programme is:
In case of candidates joining B.Tech. (Marine Engineering) degree course, distance vision (unaided 0.5 (6/12) in each eye or 0.67 (6/9) in better eye and 0.33 (6/18) in other eye. Normal colour vision shall be tested by Ishihara test chart.
Please read the below:
Eye Sight: There should not be any degree of squint or any morbid Condition of eyes or of the eye lids that is liable to aggravate or recur, pressure of trachoma and iris complication sequel. Candidates must possess good binocular vision (Fusion faculty and full field of vision in both eyes). Movement of the eyeballs must be full in all directions and the pupils should react normally to light and accommodation. Glasses may be allowed but eye sight in each eye beyond plus/minus 2.5 will be rejected . Unaided vision should be 6/12 in both eyes minimum or 6/9 in the good eye and 6/12 in the other eye minimum. Defective colour vision tested by ISHIARA test chart is disqualification for admission to this course.
Since you have only a -0.5 power, you are eligible
It actually depends not on the power of your glasses, but the eyesight. It says
- Candidates joining B.Tech should have
1. unaided sight of 6/12 in both eyes
OR
2. unaided sight of 6/9 in the better eye and 6/18 in the other eye.
And, in the case of the power, you won't face a problem as in the case of NDA, i remeber, if i'm not wrong, the range was opto -2.5 or -5. So, just check whether your eyesight is as per the above given criteria or not.
