The pass percentage you are mentioning about is the total number/percentage of candidates who are able to qualify in the exam. In other words, it's also the official capping on the exam. As per CBSE, top 6% candidates in UGC NET would qualify for Asst. Professors. The pass percentage of UGC NET you found on Google varies from every year and remains 5-6%. The eligibility for UGC NET is different for different levels and stages of the exam as mentioned below:
1. Eligibility for appearing in UGC NET is 55% (General Category) in Post graduation or equivalent and 50% for reserved candidates.
2. Eligibility for qualifying in UGC NET - To qualify in UGC NET, Gen category candidates have to secure 40% marks in Paper I and Paper II, while reserved category candidates have to secure at least 35% marks in Paper I and Paper II taken together.
Thus, as per 120 marks, you will get 40% marks, which means that you will qualify in UGC NET.
