I have done my mbbs from up. Can i apply for pubjab state counselling for private colleges??

The counselling for admissions to Post Graduate (Medical/Dental) courses in the Private and Deemed Universities of Punjab will be conducted by the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Faridkot. The private colleges offering MD and MS courses in Punjab are:

• Sri Guru Ram Das (SGRD) Institute of Medical Sciences, Amritsar (57 MD/MS seats)

• Christian Medical College, Ludhiana (56 MD/MS seats)

• Adesh Institute of Medical Sciences, Bathinda (22 MD/MS seats)

Now as per the admission rules applicable for the above colleges, 50% of the seats are reserved under Government Quota while the remaining 50% will be for the Management/Minority Quota (out of which 15% seats will be for NRI candidates).

To answer your question, yes you will be eligible to apply to these colleges. While 50% seats (the Government Quota seats) in each of these private colleges will only be open for admissions to candidates who have completed their MBBS from Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot, you will be eligible to apply for the remaining Management Quota seats which are not reserved for NRIs (15%) or for other minorities of the institute’s choice.

Ofcourse, to be eligible for admissions as a Open candidate to the above colleges, your MBBS degree must be from a recognized institute in Uttar Pradesh and you must be registered with either the Medical Council of India or the UP/any State Medical Council. You should also have cleared NEET PG with the required marks and complete the one year rotatory internship by March 31, 2018.

Note that the registration for admissions to Punjab’s medical colleges has already begun in online mode on the BFUHS website from March 4. The last date to apply is March 20, 2018.
