i have filled general category in my neet registration but now i have my valid state issued caste certificate so can i change my category to reserved during state councelling?
Hello Dear Student,
Yes, it is possible in many states , but it depends on your state counselling rules .
If you filled General category in the NEET-UG application but now have a valid state-issued caste certificate , some states allow you to claim reservation during state quota counselling , provided you submit the required documents and meet the eligibility criteria. This is separate from MCC (15% AIQ) counselling , which generally follows the category declared in your NEET application.
However, not all states permit changing the category from General to a reserved category during counselling . Some states specifically prohibit such changes after the application process, while others allow category updates or verification before the final merit list is prepared.
So, you should carefully check your state's NEET counselling notification . If your state allows category updates and your caste certificate is valid, you may be able to claim reservation during state counselling.
Hope it helps!
