i have heard that people getting 96-196 marks entered into christian medical college is that true?
Hello Glady!
Christian Medical College offers a lot of courses other than MBBS like B.Sc in different medical allied courses for example B.Sc Nursing, B.Sc Biology, Diplomas etc. For these CMC takes its own test, and the same people might have appeared for other courses test too.
Also, CMC Vellore has 100 intake for MBBS students. Out of these 15 are under All India and rest 85 are sponsored, filled by certain minorities according to their seat break-up.
For different categories, there are different qualifying marks and therefore, some people DO get admission in MBBS course of CMC Vellore.
For the year 2018, the trends were as follows:
- General category, the very last person to get admitted after mop up round was 468, which already is a very low score.
- Locomotor disability candidates (UR) - 466-214 marks. The last person to get admission in the category had 214 marks.
- Scheduled castes and Scheduled tribes (SC/ST) - 352 (cut-off)
- Other Backward Classes (OBC) - 464 marks
- Locomotor disability candidates under SC/ST/OBC - 130 marks
The cut off went low and you may find a little increase this year. These figures were after second round of counselling, which means there were candidates with an even lower score who got in. The cut off goes low because most of the people do not fill CMC Vellore's application which has to be filled in the month of March, way before NEET for its MBBS course. Therefore, even though the cut off goes low, it has to be above bare minimum cut of released by NTA (previously CBSE). It was 119 last year for UR candidate and 96 for category. In 2017 it was 131 for UR individual. All in all, to get into CMC, you still need to get marks more than the 50th percentile which is the actual cut off beyond which you are deemed qualified and can appear for counselling. I hope this answers your query.
All the best for your future.
