Yes,it is compulsory to write both the papers in order to get into the IIT.And you must also qualify the minimum marks to get admission in the IIT's.And also in both papers you should acquire minimum qualifying marks as well.

You have to give two paper in jee advance it has nothing to do with JEE Mains ,the policy of JEE advanced exam is to check the candidates aptitude and knowledge completely so for that they take two exams on same day.

to qualify jee advanced you have to give both paper 1 and paper 2. .this year the exam is being conducted on 27 may.you can get an IIT as per your crl in jee advancd. feel free to ask any doubts in comments section and stay tuned for any further updates.
