Dear Raj,
You have the required qualification for the job that you have in mind. However, most of the job openings at the level of Asst.Professor would require at least 2 years of experience in the practice of yoga. So, let's see how you can go about this.
The central government and most of the corporate bodies now see yoga as an effective answer to stress-related issues and have created openings for yoga instructors. What you need to do is to visit Quality Council of India (QCI) website, which is a nodal agency for accreditation of yoga practitioners. There are a number of agencies accreditied by QCI which give you certification. So, get some hands-on practice as your first step to becoming a yoga practitioner in the professional sense of the term. The QCI also has a voluntary scheme for yoga professionals as required by international standards.
The Ministry of External Affairs, through the Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR) appoints yoga instructors in its embassies and counsulates abroad.
The central government's Ayush Minstry also plans to create 10,000 posts in the near future. Last year Haryana Government created 1000 vacancies and the Ayush Ministry is reported to have written to all states to identify scope for yoga instructors.
So, try to gain experience and in the meanwhile, visit the websites of QCI, ICCR, Ministry of Ayush to know what is happening and most importantly, buy Employment News or subscribe to that to know about job openings in central government, public sector undertakings etc. Meanwhile, be on the look out for the post of yoga instructors in CBSE-affiliated schools, as at least 17000 schools teach yoga. Best of luck!
