Joint Entrance Exam Main is the national level computer based test conducted by the National Testing Agency for the purpose of admissions to the undergraduate engineering courses in top engineering institutes in India like National Institutes of Technology, IIITs and the Govt funded Technical Institutes. In addition, it is also the screening cum qualifier test for JEE Advanced. The test is held twice in a year in January and April, and validity of the result is one year.

JEE Advanced is the exam for admissions to the Bachelor’s, Integrated Master’s and Dual Degree programs (entry at the 10+2 level) in all the 23 IITs of the country. Students who qualify JEE Main and is in top 2,50,000 candidates in order of merit becomes eligible for appearing in JEE Advanced. The exam is conducted by the seven Zonal Coordinating IITs namely IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras, IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati and IIT Roorkee under the aegis of the Joint Admission Board (JAB).
