As there is no official data regarding the number of topper students who drop, so exact number is unknown.
However in exams like NEET it is seen that students often take a drop to give full one year to dedicated preparation. With right strategy and time management many of these come out achieving top ranks.
So, do not seek for exact numbers, if you feel you can be dedicated enough for full year than go for drop.
A coaching institute might help you give right direction and material.
