If I appear for NEET-UG in 2020 and secure a good rank, can I get into a medical college in 2021 on the basis of that result or will I have to appear for it again?

Hey there ! Greetings!
Neet ug examination is conducted every year for admission into medical colleges ( now including aiims and jipmer ) .
The result of which is valid only for the current academic session . This means if you qualify NEET-2020 you are eligible for admission into a medical college in this academic year . You can't get admitted next year on the basis of the year's result .
