Dear Himanshu,
As per new eligblty criteria you are required to give minimum o f one subject or maximum of 5 subjects in improvement exam.
Minimum 75% aggregate in any 12th board is must too qualify for JEE advanced across all 5subjects.
You can give improveemnt exams in any of 5 subjects again such that your aggregate marks go up above 75%. Youare given only two attempts for improvement exam i.e. 2017 and 2018 as per new CBSE rules.
Thecriteria is however, relaxed to 65% for SC/ST category. Moreover, candidate has to be amongst top2.24 lakh students from JEE main rank to qualify for JEE advanced.

No, to get admission in NITs/IITs/IIITs/GFTIs you will have to give improvement in 5 subjects as this is the mandatory criteria to be fulfilled.
