For IIT preparation Your first step will be qualifying JEE Main, which will be held twice a year. To qualify JEE Main focus on Previous years Ppaerand NCERT most of the part of the paper will come from NCERT. Your question was on IIT so I would focus more on JEE Advance instead of JEE Main.
To qualify JEE Advance you need to be focused and hardworking, the Whole syllabus need to be within your mind and You need to have good Problem-solving skills. Prepare a good timetable as per Your convenience and give more time to Mathematics, Look at the previous Years paper and learn which type of problems IITs expects You to solve and solve only that type of Problems more rather than solving whole books if You gar=et sufficient Time you can go for it.

For Mathematics: SL Loney for Trigonometry and Coordinate Geometry. Arihant books for Calculus and Algebra.
Physics: HC Verma and DC Pandey
Chemistry: NCERT, Morrison Boyd and JD Lee.

There are lots of good books available in the market which provide you the opportunity to encounter many problems.
Get the theory part thoroughly and understand every bit.Go to the problems then.Do not jump anything and even in case you cannot solve a problem,see where you're stuck.Also,try solving questions from books having questions of the level of JEE.Concepts play a crucial role.Stay positive and work hard.
