In any counselling mist important is rank because that tells you how many student are above you.Marks vary every year but rank approximately remains the same as number if seats are constant.

In state counselling your state rank matters the most apart from AIQ rank since that will tell you how many students are ahead is your in the state and according to number if seats in medical college you can estimate your Chances,since some students with high rank go through AIQ leaving seats for state quota students.
