In order to attend JEE advanced , getting pass mark according to my category is enough or we should get higher rank in AIR

See, if you want just want to write the JEE Advanced exam, and you don't care about the colleges which you can get through JEE Main score, then your motto must be to just get the qualifying marks in your rerspective category.

But if you think that JEE Main score can fetch me good colleges apart from JEE Advanced exam, then you must work hard to secure a good rank in JEE Main exam and not just the qualifying score.

Now I would suggest you that don't take JEE Advanced for granted. I am not trying afraid you from the exam but I want to warn you that these type of competitive exams works on several other factors instead of just knowledge. So, keeping in mind the worst cases, prepare for JEE Advanced confidently.
