Dear Aspirant,
AIR is the all India rank. There is a category rank which is the rank in your specific category in all the test takers. These are not related to each other but are evaluated individually depending upon the total test takers and total test takers in your specific category.
There is also a state rank, which takes into account the total test takers in your home state.
