One should sleep for around 6-8 hours daily. I'm assuming you want to sleep less, because you want to devote more time to studies. I have something that can help you. Instead of taking a 6 hour long nap, take 2-3 breaks throughout the day. You must be taking breaks in between study periods, instead of spending time on phonw, watching TV etc, try sleeping for half an hour. Not only will you feel refreshed, you will also be able to retain the information you gathered before the nap well. In the night, then, you could sleep for 4 hours or so, so that your total sleeping time for a day is atleast 6 hours.

Any sleep less than 7 hours is harmful for humans. If you do not get a minimum of 6-7 hours of sleep every day, results may be fatal. You are shortening your life span by not getting optimal sleep. Sleep is a very crucial part of our day and it is discussed in great detail in the book WHY WE SLEEP?

It totally depends on you. You know your health better that anybody your body will tell you if you can sleep for just 4 hours or not. Generally it's not good for health to take 4 hours of sleep. It can be dangerous to your immunity and mental health. 8 hours sleep is considered ideal sleep hours. So I advise you not to force your body but do what your body accepts.
