Yes, if you have the money it is a great college. The facilities are remarkable, and you will have the best time of your life.
kmc is one of the best medical colleges in india. It is rank among the top 5 medical colleges. So its worth it what you are paying to be there.
Dear Shivam, the campuses of Kasturba Medical College (KMC) in Mangalore and Manipal, both located in Karnataka, are considered to be two of the top Medical Deemed Universities located in India. As Deemed Universities, their counselling is conducted by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on behalf of the Medical Counselling Committee. While KMC Manipal offers a total of 250 seats for admissions at All India Level, with 212 seats for All India Quota and 38 seats for NRI candidates, KMC Mangalore offers a total of 198 seats, with 161 seats for All India Quota and 37 seats for NRI. Apart from this, KMC Manipal also offers 47 seats under State Government Quota, the admissions for which are conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA). As a domicile of UP, you are eligible to apply for all 250 seats at KMC Manipal and 198 seats at KMC Mangalore (there is no 15% All India Quota for Deemed Universities). Both of these institutions charge a total MBBS course fee of Rs. 45,50,000 for All India Quota candidates (under Paid/Management category) and USD 207,700 (around Rs. 1.35 crore) for NRI candidates. A brief glimpse of the Deemed University seat allotment through NEET 2017 shows numerous NEET toppers opting for one of these two campuses in their counselling thereby indicating that both Universities are right up there in terms of reputation. Therefore, a fee of around Rs. 45,00,000 is worth it mainly when compared to similar such fees from other Deemed Universities. From the Unreserved Category, the last candidate to be alloted a seat under Management Quota through NEET 2017 to KMC Manipal secured a NEET rank of 20,837 which translates to a score of 515 out of 720. The last unreserved candidate to be allotted a seat under NRI Quota to KMC Manipal secured a NEET rank of 2,32,054 translating to a score of 258 marks out of 720. In the case of KMC Mangalore, the last candidate to be alloted a seat under Management Quota through NEET 2017 secured a NEET rank of 22,444 which translates to a score of 517 out of 720. The last unreserved candidate to be allotted a seat under NRI Quota to KMC Mangalore secured a NEET rank of 4,91,574, translating to a score of 145 marks out of 720. Therefore, if you wish to obtain a seat at KMC Manipal under Management Quota, target a score of 515+ and a rank within the top 20,000. Same in the case of KMC Mangalore. Otherwise, as a NRI candidate, a score of 260+ should suffice in getting a seat at KMC Manipal and a score of 145+ should suffice in getting a seat at KMC Mangalore, all as per NEET 2017 trends. Hope this helps!
Hey!
I presume you'll be appearing for NEET next year,
Keeping that in mind I would suggest don't give up hope right away! Try for a Government Seat in a Medical College. There are many advantages of doing that.
1]Greater clinical exposure
2]Highly subsidised fee
3]Better teaching and competitive crowd
A lot of students who don't get a GMC at the first go face this dilemma. While taking a seat in Pvt College is an option only for the privileged, I've seen many of them repeating, for it is worth it!
Lest, if you feel that waiting is not worth the while keeping in mind the long journey ahead, it is a good option.
KMC (my POV)
For those opting private medical colleges, KMC is a much sort after option. Manipal though is more preferred than Mangalore in this case.
If you were to pay 50L for admission in KMC Mangalore, I'd suggest DY Patil Mumbai, NKPSIMS Nagpur as a better option because of better faculty, exposure and connectivity.
All the best for the choice you make!
I would say better to try for Govt colleges first and keep KMC as a secondary choice but yes, this is a very good college to pursue MBBS so spending 50L for this would not be disappointing you in future. Apart from this, there is nothing declared for NEET 2018 KMC cut off but in previous year the closing rank was 22466 which means 510+ marks would be required. So plan and prepare very hard so that you can easily get your goal accomplished.
Hope this helps!!!
