is it better to go as dayscholar or residential for longterm course?

It does not matter whether you are day scholar or resident. It depends on the load of the course. If you have a busy academic time and heavy load you can be resident. But if you can accomodate the busy academic life and your home/house is not too long, you can be a day scholar. If you are asking about B.Sc, B.Com, B.A. etc I think you can be a day scholar. If you are doing any professional courses like M.B.B.S, B.Tech, B.P.T etc you can become a resident near by the college like hostelier or paying guest.

If you think there will be much stress if you travel daily to and fro for learning you can choose to live near by college. Also if your home/house is at much distance from the college, you can be a near-by resident. Please note that such residence may not have the same comfortable things as your home is, with regard to food, freedom, use of your ownings etc. Please keep all of these in mind while you choose a far-by residence.
