Dear Alia,
Hostel facilities are provided to each students if they apply. Based on their category (General, OBC, etc) and their rank in the entrance, hostels are alloted.
In last few years students count has increased, so few students don't get hostel at the admission time. In every 15–20 days, a new hostel allocation list is published. This process lasts upto 6–12 months.
But if one of your friend has got hostel, you can stay with him legally. Most students initially stay with their friends or seniors.
