Hello Aspirant
It is not compulsory to write both JEE Paper 2 and NATA exam. Both the exams are conducted to get admission into Bachelor's of Architecture degree courses. As it is not compulsory to write both the exams, you can opt any one. But writing both the exams will increase your chances to get admission into good colleges. If you do not score well in any one of these exams, then you still have the scores of other exam among these two.
Through JEE Paper 2 you can get into NITs and GFTIs. With NATA score you can get admission into other government funded institutes and private colleges.
So if you are not sure about your marks then writing both the papers would be an added advantage.
