Silicon Institute of Technology abbreviated as SIT is a private engineering college which is affiliated to Biju Patnaik University of Technology, Rourkela. The college offers degree programmes majorly in engineering and technology. The undergraduate degree programmes in engineering are offered in various disciplines which include computer science, electrical and electronics, applied electronics and instrumentation, electronics and communication.

Admissions of students to Silicon Institute of Technology are made through central counselling by Government of Odisha on the basis of merit through two entrance examinations i.e., Odisha Joint Entrance Examination and Joint Entrance Examination (Main).

Admissions for 1st Year B. Tech. students are based on the merit list of JEE (Main) conducted by CBBSE, New Delhi. Admissions for 2nd Year B. Tech. (Lateral) students are based on the merit list of Orissa Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE).

Overall it is a good college with good placement and qualified staff members. This year, many students have been placed in Sankalp, Infosys, TCS, and Wipro. Moreover, many other companies are yet to visit the campus. Most of the students get placed in IT companies. The college also have a placement cell which guides the students and it is very helpful.
