Jawaharlal Nehru University is a public university founded in 1969 in New Delhi. It offers courses in undergraduate , postgraduate and Research and doctoral courses. It is recognised by UGC and AICTE. The overall ranking of JNU by National Institutional Ranking Framework is second amongst all universities in India. It is indeed one of the most reputed university and is a renowned teaching and research centre in the world .JNU also received the Best University Award from the President of India in 2017.
JNU offers a great deal of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in arts, science and social science stream. There is an entrance exam to get admission into JNU.Jawaharlal Nehru University offers 10 undergraduate programmes with a total of 342 seats and 34 post graduate programmes with a total of 1025 seats. It also offers courses in computer application and biotechnology. Apart from these, the university has exchange programmes and academic collaboration through the signing of MoUs with 71 universities around the world.
Recently ,there has been many cases of controversial issues surrounding the political activism of the students in JNU.
The student community inside JNU is infused with a lot of political activism and social and political issues are fiercely debated within student meetings and gatherings. Not only that there have been several incidences in the JNU campus that attracted major political controversies.
